Joe Dion – You Can’t Leave Us!

23 May 2010 3 Comments

Joe Dion has played a Hammond B3 organ with us at Riverside Church for at least eight years now, and he recently announced that he will be moving to the Atlanta area to start up a new State Farm Insurance agency.  Both Joyce and I play within three feet of Joe’s organ speakers every Sunday, and the sound that is generated by Joe in our worship services is great!  What a dramatic sound to be playing a quiet low-key area of a song, and then to have Joe come in on top of everything with the B3.  We sure are going to miss you and that organ, and we wish you the best in your new business.  And by the way, your request for transfer still hasn’t been approved by the personnel committee of the Riverside Band.  Note to all readers of this story:  leave Joe a comment below.

    Joe,
I’m still so bummed that you are going to Atlanta but trust you are following God’s lead. You have been an encouragement to me and I greatly appreciate you and all you have done here at Riverside. The picture that will stay with me is you baptizing your friend and colleague…what a blessing!

    Joe,
The time has passed so quickly since we first got to know you and your wonderful family. You all are amazing and I can’t imagine not having you in the band, but I am sure that in Heaven there will be another band for us all to play in. You have a sweet and gentle heart – and your love for the Lord shines brightly. You are THE BASSMAN. Love you, Mac and Hilary

    Joe,

Jose and I want to wish you the very best in Atlanta! I know it’s a tough transition… I cannot believe you are on your way, away from us! I will miss you terribly. It will not be the same at Riverside without you. But, I know our heavenly Father has wonderful plans for you and your beautiful family. Enjoy the journey!

    All our love,

    Marvilla, Jose & Jonah Marzan
